Importing
Bring outside content into a design by dragging a file onto the canvas or pasting from your clipboard. What you get back depends on the file type.
Images
Drag a PNG, JPG, or WebP file onto the canvas, or copy an image and paste
it with Cmd/Ctrl V. It lands as an image layer that you can move, resize, and
style like any other layer.
Paste an image as a fill
To swap one image for another — or give any shape or frame an image background —
copy an image (an image layer with Cmd/Ctrl C, or any picture with
Cmd/Ctrl Shift C / a screenshot), select the shape or frame you want to fill,
and paste with Cmd/Ctrl V. Instead of adding a new layer, the image becomes
that layer's fill. Copying an image layer also carries over its fit mode (Fill /
Fit / Stretch / Tile); a system screenshot pastes as Fill. Paste with nothing
else selected to duplicate the image as usual.
SVG
Drag or paste an .svg file and it comes in as editable vector shapes and
paths, not a flat image. You can select, recolor, and reshape the individual
pieces.
SVG import currently brings in shapes and paths. Text and gradients inside the SVG aren't converted yet.
Figma
There are two ways to bring in a Figma design:
- Drag a
.figfile onto the canvas. Its frames are imported as artboards in your project. - In Figma, select a frame and
Copyit (the regular copy, notCopy as PNGorCopy as SVG), then paste it into Craftwork Make.
Figma import keeps your nesting, shapes, frames, text, rounded corners (including per-corner radii on shapes and frames), solid and gradient fills, strokes, shadows, rotation and mirroring, and frame clipping.
Images need the .fig file. A Figma copy carries only a reference to each
image, never the picture itself, so pasted designs arrive with their photos and
textures missing. Everything else still comes across. To keep images, use File
→ Save local copy in Figma and drag the .fig onto the canvas instead.
Some things change or drop on the way in:
- Fonts that aren't available fall back to a default. Upload the real font from the font picker to match your design.
- Components and instances come in as plain frames, with the component's default content — per-instance overrides aren't applied.
- Some effects may be dropped, including background blur, glass, and per-character text overrides. Skewed (isometric) layers land unskewed.
- Responsive and auto-layout intent is flattened to fixed positions.
After an import you'll get a short summary of how many layers came in and what couldn't be converted.
Sketch
Drop a .sketch file onto the canvas and it opens as a document.
