Projects

A project is a single design document — one canvas that holds one or more frames (artboards). When you open Craftwork Make you land on the Projects list, where every design you've made is waiting for you.

Create a project

Click New Design in the top-right of the Projects list. A fresh document opens with an empty canvas, ready for you to add frames, shapes, text, and assets.

Prefer a head start? Click From template next to it to browse the Community gallery and open any template as a brand-new project.

Find and open a project

Each row in the Projects list shows:

  • A thumbnail preview of the design
  • The project name
  • An Edited X ago timestamp

Click any row to open that project in the editor. Once you have a few projects, a search field appears in the header — start typing a name to filter the list.

Set a cover thumbnail

By default the thumbnail is an automatic preview of your whole first page. You can instead pick any single layer to use as the project's cover — a frame (artboard), an image, a group, or any other layer:

  1. In the editor, right-click the layer you want to feature.
  2. Choose Set as thumbnail.

That layer becomes the project's cover everywhere it's shown in the Projects list. The cover stays live — as you keep editing that layer, the thumbnail updates with it.

The cover is cropped to a 4:3 box (centered), so a layer that's already close to 4:3 fits without losing anything at the edges. Taller or wider layers still work; they're just cropped to fit.

To go back to the automatic page preview, right-click the same layer and choose Restore default thumbnail.

The choice travels with the project, so your cover looks the same on every device you open it from.

Manage a project

You can rename, duplicate, share, or delete a project two ways:

  • Right-click a row in the Projects list
  • Use the project-title dropdown in the editor's top bar

| Action | What it does | | ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- | | Rename | Change the project's name | | Duplicate | Make a copy you can edit independently | | Version history | Browse and restore earlier states (editor menu only) | | Share | Create a link to share the design | | Delete | Remove the project (you'll be asked to confirm first) |

Deleting a project can't be undone, so the editor asks you to confirm before it removes anything.

Sharing

Click Share in the editor's top bar (or pick Share project from the project-title menu) to open the share dialog:

  • Copy link — turns on link sharing and copies a view-only link. Anyone with the link can open the design in their browser; no account needed.
  • Invite by email — type comma-separated addresses and press Invite to send the link from your own mail app.
  • Share settings — click the access row (can view) to control who can open the link: Anyone with the link or Only you (turns the link off). Editing by link is not available yet.
  • Viewers can duplicate this file — in share settings, allow viewers to clone the design as a starting point for their own work.
  • Publish to Community — submit the selected artboard (or the page's first artboard) to the Community library. It goes through the usual review before appearing publicly.

Turning the link off later doesn't delete anything — flip it back on and the same link works again.

Saving

Your work saves automatically as you edit, quietly — a saved project shows nothing next to its title. If something hasn't made it to the server yet, a small amber dot appears beside the title; hover it to see why. Your latest edits are kept safely in the tab and re-sync on their own, so just don't close it until the dot disappears. If the dot says a newer version exists elsewhere (for example, you edited the same project in another tab), click it to reload and pick up the latest version.

Version history

The editor keeps restore points for every project, so an experiment — yours or the AI's — is never a one-way door:

  • A restore point is created automatically before every AI edit, labeled with your prompt.
  • Create one manually any time: project title menu → Version history → New restore point (or via the Cmd/Ctrl K command palette).

To roll back, open Version history and click Restore on any entry. Your current state is saved as its own restore point first, so restoring is always reversible. Restore points live in your browser on this device; each project keeps its most recent thirty.

Plans and usage

When you start approaching a plan limit, a slim bar appears in the footer of the Projects page: it shows your plan name, an inline meter for each metered item (how many projects you've used and how many AI credits remain), and an Upgrade button.

Free accounts include a few projects, a monthly AI credit allowance for AI generation, and daily caps on image uploads and Craftwork asset inserts. Paid plans raise these limits. Click Upgrade to change plans.

Exact limits depend on your plan and are always shown in the app. The figures above are general — check the in-app meters for your real numbers.

Switch light or dark theme

Use the sun/moon toggle in the top toolbar to switch between light and dark themes. The choice applies across the app.
